Dress, Belt & Boots: Thrifted

Wow, it’s been a while since a) I have posted and b) I have gotten dressed! Okay the latter point is a little pathetic, but embarrassingly oh, so true. I have legit reasoning though. Well first of all I am in Virginia and if you haven’t seen the news, I am covered in well over 30 inches of snow. This mere fact allowed me to stay in the same leggings and flannel for 3 straight days. I sacrificed hygiene for comfort and loved every minute of it. Secondly, I am working from home now and I technically sit in my PJs all day. I will not allow this to happen, however temping it is. ha!

I’m trying to show off my new boots. A fab $5 find! Also, please excuse the hat hair- a girl has gotta keep warm! :) Good to be back!

holiday {cheer}

Seasons Greetings! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & New Year! I have been home for the holidays and while home I have a tendency to stay in my pjs or sweats all day. It can be depressing, so going forward I will be getting dressed each day. haha- that’s kinda sad for a 25 year-old to be saying, but to quote Outkast, “I’m just being honest…”

Anyway, I rummaged through my sister’s closest for an outfit for a family Christmas. I chose a colorful skirt and accented it with the greys of the striped shirt, wool blazer and silk/lace belt. Yes, it may have been texture overload, but it was a fun outfit. I loved the lining of the blazer, so I rolled the sleeves and added to vintage earring on the lapel to substitute a broach. I wore patterned black tights, red flats and topped it off with a bow barrett.

I can’t tell you where anything is from, except the blazer. It’s J Crew.

Oh the beauty of going home… old clothes. I found a skirt… from 8th grade in my little sister’s closet. The whole front of the skirt is one giant pouch… pretty nifty.

Excuse the wrinkles please. haha. It was at the end of a long (but super fun) day with one of my BFFs in Indianapolis. Coming back to the states to face winter was quite the adjustment! All my clothes are in boxes in my brother’s basement… good thing I got a couple winter garments in Oz to hold me over as I transitioned.

It’s my first weekend back in Northern Virginia and I was suck in a snow storm!! Not quite the 95+ weather I was used to! I was quickly reminded that dressing for colder weather is harder. Well, not hard… there are just more layers and body parts to cover. haha. Well, legging are my new best friend because besides the one pair of jeans I brought to Oz (that no longer fit- I don’t want to talk about it. haha) my jeans are buried in a box somewhere. sigh. Oh well, such is life. At least I found my boots… and yes, the salt from the sidewalks really brings out the gold buckles… or not! Oh winter, I am not sure if I like you anymore.

Well, I didn’t post regularly, BUT I am soon headed off to the cold weather of winter in the states, so hopefully a better routine will be in place. haha. well, you may notice I have a little blonde in the hair… and more to be added. I was do for a change. I’m thinking of growin the hair out. We will see if I am patient enough for that. :)

I found this cute tee for 50 cents at a local op shop. It is soooo hot here and I am cutting the sleeves off everything!! I just loved the collar. So darling huh?!

Ahh…. Dumpster Divin’. How I love thee. I found this tee on the side of the road. There was a community clean-up day and someone was clearing their closet. I found all kinds of goodies. yay! I LOVE birds (not real one though)… just in design. Sorry, I am not a huge animal lover. I like [BIG] dogs and that’s about it…

Anyway… has anyone found any great treasures on the side of the road lately?

Crazy, that it is already NOVEMBER!!!! Time is a flying!! Last night I put together an impromptu Halloween costume… I was Miss America. They don’t celebrate Halloween in Australia… well, it’s quite a evil holiday here and frowned upon. We had a little costume/dance party. No candy (lollies as they say here) consumption. I always loved getting Pay Days and flavored Tootsie Rolls. haha.
